The Smooth Fox Terrier was thought, up until recently, to be the same breed, just a different variation as the Wire Fox Terrier. Experts now say that is incorrect and point out that the Smooth Fox Terrier ancestors include the Beagle and Bull Terrier and it came from England in or around the 18th century, while the Wire Fox Terrier is related to the Rough Black and Tan Terrier of Wales. The Smooth Fox Terrier was designed as a “fox bolting” hunting breed, meaning they go hunting with larger dogs and hunters on horse back. When they find a fox they literally bolt in after it, chasing out to where the larger dogs and hunters can follow it. They were bred to be primarily white to avoid being mistaken for the fox in the underbrush. This breed is genetically quite healthy and can live 12 to 15 years. The AKC recognized the breed in the Terrier Group in 1885. They should not be larger than 15 ½ inches tall at the withers, and should not weigh more than 18 pounds.

Measuring approximately 4” tall and 2” wide, this ornament is hand painted stone resin. Crossed Candy Canes hold up a green platform, on which we mount one of our detailed, breed specific Tiny Ones figurines. Each figurine is wearing a winter scarf and has a gold tone cord for hanging this unique decoration from your Christmas tree, or anywhere you’d like to have a little company! Individually packaged and labeled in our blister packs, ready to give as a gift, or hang in your store!
