They are intelligent, alert and playful lap warmers and are devoted to their family. They have a long silky single layered coat which requires brushing a couple times a week to avoid matting. Because their coat has no odor, they do not require frequent bathing. Coloring is mostly white with patches of either black or red. The AKC recognized this breed in the Toy Group in 1888. The size of this companion dog ranges from 8 to 11 inches tall at the withers and the breed description does not list a weight requirement.
