The origin of the Keeshond is not quite clear, but it is thought that they were brought into Holland by the Vikings during the 9th century. Over the years this breed has been known by several different names including Dutch Barge Dog, Smiling Dutchman, Chien Loup, German Spitz, Deutscher Wolfspitz and Wolfspitz. The plural version of Keeshond is Keeshonden….interesting. This breed is affectionate, good natured, love children, outgoing and friendly with people and other dogs. They are very intelligent, intuitive and empathic and are often used as comfort dogs as was the case at Ground Zero in NYC where they were brought in to comfort the rescue workers. The AKC recognized this breed in the Non-Sporting Group in 1930. The ideal size for a Keeshond ranges from 17 to 18 inches tall at the withers.

Using our Tiny Ones series of breed specific figurines we have created a wonderful surprise Gift Box ornament. Each Blue Gift box measures 1 ¾” X 1 ¾” square, and the open cover measure 2” tall. These Unique little ornaments are all hand painted stone resin and come with a silver string to hang on your Christmas tree or display on a shelf. All items are individually blister packaged, ready to give as a gift, or hang in your store. Great item for that special someone!
