The Lioness is the female of the Lion species. The Lioness does the hunting for the family group, called the pride as it is thought the male’s mane prevents him from being an efficient stocker and hunter. The word “Lioness” is also used as an adjective when describing the best female of something. The life span of the Lioness averages approximately 14 years in the wild, which is several more years than the males.
