The Mandrill had been classified in the baboon family but recent research determined they should have a category all their own called genus Mandrillus. Mandrills are the largest of the monkey species and the most colorful mammal. Charles Darwin wrote “no other member in the whole class of mammals is colored in so extraordinary a manner as the adult male Mandrill.” The brighter the red stripe on the face is, the more viral the male, and as he ages and falls from dominance this stripe lightens. Mandrills live in large multi-family units call hordes with some of these groups reaching 850 individuals. This species lives naturally in the rain forests of equatorial Africa. The average male might weight 77 pounds while the female weighs only 25 to 30 pounds. Our Pen Sets are perfect for anyone’s desk. Each pen set comes with a medium brown-stained base (color may vary), measuring 4 3/4” X 6 1/2”, 3/8" thick, a gold tone pen holder, a gold tone (blue) ink pen, and a 4"-5" figurine.
Pen sets are shipped without the figurine glued in place. This eliminates breakage and allows the figurine to be positioned at the angle you prefer. If you wish to glue, any 2 part epoxy or silicon glue (Goop) works fine.
Perfect for a gift or to display at your store, these are available in any of our standard figurines including dogs, cats, or animals!
