The Silky Terrier originated in Australia from a cross between an Australian Terrier and a Yorkshire Terrier. In fact, up until 1929 these three breeds were not separated at all and all three breeds could be born into the same litter with their breed being determined after they grew up. The Silky Terrier is called the Australian Silky Terrier everywhere but in the USA where it’s simply called the Silky Terrier. In spite of being a terrier, this breed is classified in the toy group due to its small size. Like the Chihuahua, the Silky Terrier should not wear a collar, but instead wear a harness due to their weak collapsible trachea or windpipe. Their long silky hair required daily brushing, weekly baths and visits to a professional groomer approximately every 3 weeks. The AKC recognized this breed in the Toy Group in 1959. The average size should be 9 to 10 inches tall at the withers with a weight of approximately 10 pounds.

Measuring approximately 4” tall and 2” wide, this ornament is hand painted stone resin. Crossed Candy Canes hold up a green platform, on which we mount one of our detailed, breed specific Tiny Ones figurines. Each figurine is wearing a winter scarf and has a gold tone cord for hanging this unique decoration from your Christmas tree, or anywhere you’d like to have a little company! Individually packaged and labeled in our blister packs, ready to give as a gift, or hang in your store!
