The Weimaraner originated in Germany and was originally called the Weimer Pointer named after the area it came from, Weimar. This breed is known best for its sleek gray, short coat and is often referred to as the “Grey Ghost”. What many people are unaware of is that this breed has a long haired version recognized by all the countries of the world except the USA. The Weimaraner was so prized in Germany that when the first examples of this breed were sent to the US, they were sterilized to prevent Americans from popularizing their special breed. While produced as a hunting dog, even at the beginning this breed was allowed to live in the home which was not the common practice for hunting dogs. This resulted in a breed that loves being with humans including children. Dwight D. Eisenhower and Brad Pitt are a couple of very famous Weimaraner owners, and this breed was featured in the comedy movie “Best in Show”. The AKC recognized the Weimaraner in the Sporting Group in 1943. This hunting & family dog averages 23 to 27 inches tall at the withers.

Measuring approximately 4” tall and 2” wide, this ornament is hand painted stone resin. Crossed Candy Canes hold up a green platform, on which we mount one of our detailed, breed specific Tiny Ones figurines. Each figurine is wearing a winter scarf and has a gold tone cord for hanging this unique decoration from your Christmas tree, or anywhere you’d like to have a little company!
